Summer Festival FAQs

About into the Wild...

What else does Into the Wild do?

Into the Wild runs a number of events throughout the year. Our largest family festival is our Into the Wild Summer Festival, our smaller family festival is the Beltane Fire Festival in May. We have two smaller adult only gatherings  (this is because the Emerson College where we hold them doesn't allow kids) and our smaller events at Samhain in October and our Winter Warmer in February.

We like to make our events affordable so that everyone is able to attend and enjoy the beauty of the wild, the splendour of ecstatic music and the joy and nurturing of a supportive community. We promote connection and friendship as a way to support and benefit all beings.  Our events are held in the Sussex countryside,  a short drive from London, Brighton and easily accessible for most folk, yet immersed in in nature, surrounded by meadows, trees and birdsong.

All our events are free from drink and drugs, which has somehow created a magic of its own. By being clear and aware there can be a natural ecstasy and appreciation for the gift of life in this very moment. If you haven't tried it, give it a go, we hardly believed it ourself, how much fun you can have without a hangover. The kids love it, as its a safe space to explore and enjoy without that unknown quantity.

We aim to make our events as sustainable as possible, and also to support good causes by organise fundraising events for good causes, which include Nepal,  Standing Rock, Tibetan and Syrian refugee children,  as well as wildlife projects with Wolves, Tigers , Bears and Snow Leopards.

For the workshops, a cushion or sheepskin, blanket, and bottle of water is very useful. Some of the workshops are very restful, so be sure to have materials to make yourself comfy and warm.

Where can I camp and can I take my car on site?

Please ensure you bring no more than you are able to carry to the campsite as for health and safety reasons cars have to be parked away from our main camping areas. It may be up to a 5 minute walk. We may have a few small off road vehicles to help carry stuff for those who really need it, if so however there will be a significant wait for these.

Can I bring my campervan or caravan?

Yes. If you are bringing a campervan, caravan or similar live-in vehicle please purchase a live-in vehicle pass. It will save you time if you do this in advance although you can do this on the day if necessary.  We aim for each live-in vehicle pitch being around 5m x 6m, although there may be slight flexibility on this. We try to avoid mixing tents and live-in vehicles as much as possible although reasonably-sized awnings are fine. See tickets page.

Can I bring a bell tent?

Yes.

Festival Trolleys & Mobile Phones

You can hire trolleys to move your camping gear from car park, which isn't too far anyway, but can make it easier.

Plus there is a stall to charge mobiles on site.

We ask that people take their waste and recycling home with them, black bin bags are available at the Information Tent. There is no ATM on site and the nearest one will be in Edenbridge

What is the camping set up?

There is a communal fire to toast your toes, but please do not build your own camp fire anywhere. Do make sure you bring enough warm bedding to avoid being nippy at night. You need to bring all of your own camping set up. There’s a stall selling some camping necessities, such as tent pegs, but do come prepared! There’s no light pollution, so bring a torch for late night trundles. A waterproof is always useful in the British weather, fingers crossed we don’t need them! If you’d rather glamp and rent a tipi, there is more information about this on the website:

Can I build a fire?

Personal camp fires are not allowed anywhere on site – we provide communal fires instead. Please do not light candles or solid fuel fires inside your tent at any time. We allow BBQ's in our designated BBQ area, away from tents and harm. Always be mindful around fires of any kind. They are one of the biggest risks.

What size is a live-in vehicle pitch?

A live-in vehicle ticket for a campervan, caravan or similar entitles you to a 5m x 6m bay although there may be slight flexibility on this. If you have an awning or small tents with you, they will need to fit within this space too.  If you require more space we may ask you to buy an additional live-in ticket.
